The 8th Button-Front Knit Jacket — Women's Cropped

A jacket that's really a knit — and better for it.

The 8th Button-Front Knit Jacket is cut in a loose-fit 310 gsm knit, cropped at the waist, with a mock neck and a covered button placket down the front. It's the layer for the in-between weather: warm enough to be the outer layer, soft enough to wear indoors, and light enough to carry.

It wears two ways and both work. Buttoned up it reads as a jacket — the mock neck stands, the covered placket gives it a clean front, and the raglan seams running from the collar to the armpit keep the shoulders soft rather than structured. Worn open it's a light knit layer over a tee or a bodysuit, which is where it earns its keep through the shoulder season.

The construction is what lifts it: a covered button placket rather than an exposed one, so the front stays clean; raglan sleeves with a seam detail running across each one; and ribbed cuffs that hold their shape. The knit is midweight — substantial without bulk — and the cropped cut means it sits at the waist instead of swamping you.

In black, off-white, heather grey and navy. Black and navy do the workhorse job; off-white and heather grey are the ones that make the outfit look considered.

Wear it buttoned as your jacket, open as your layer — it does both.

Fit & sizing

Loose through the body and cropped at the waist, with a soft raglan shoulder and a straight hem. Take your usual size for the intended relaxed fit. Size up if you want to wear it over a chunky knit; size down if you prefer it close.
